Schools

We work with schools across the UK and are here to make sure that every young person can connect with the transformative power of theatre, irrespective of their ability or background.

Primary Schools

Change your tune

A project for primary schools (Year 5 & 6 students), where the pupils get to create and record their very own 15-minute musical radio plays!

Each play will include a song and will be based on themes that the children and teachers choose themselves and be written by a professional playwright and composer and schools will have a listening party for friends and family at the end of the school term.

Playmakers

Our Youth Forum was set up to advise us as a charity and support our work but also is a group of talented young people aged 18-30 who are passionate about developing a career in the Arts. Our ambition is to nurture that passion with a programme of training, advice and mentoring.

We welcome applications to join our Youth Forum from young people who are interested in the theatre and arts and welcome applications from those sectors of society that remain underrepresented in the industry.

Secondary Schools

We deliver a range of educational programmes and workshops designed to meet the curriculum needs of your school.

Education Matinees

Go Live regularly organises Education Matinees for West End shows whereby the entire performance is given over to state school pupils at a heavily subsidised price, enabling young people to enjoy a show (many for the first time) in the company of their peers.

This safe and joyous environment helps to remove the mystique of theatre for many young people who may otherwise feel that they don’t “belong”. Many Education Matinees also run a workshop or post-show Q&A with the cast to enhance the experience for students.

Go Backstage

Aimed at introducing young people to the wide range of backstage and technical jobs in theatre, this is a career focused project for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities at mainstream secondary schools. Students work with theatre professionals to learn about directing, set, sound and lighting design in a series of workshops (in your school and at theatres) along with a trip to see a West End show.

SEND Schools

We work with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools alongside theatres, expert practitioners and educators to create programmes and theatre trips that are suitable for young people with additional needs.

Playmakers

This is a creative learning project for SEND learners in Key Stage 2 and Year 7. Across numerous in-school workshops, your pupils will work collaboratively with a Go Live creative practitioner to learn all about the components of playwriting from character to location to plot.

Working together to write a 15-minute play, at the end of term your pupils are invited to a West End theatre with other participating schools to watch their play being performed by a company of professional actors and followed by a Q&A.

Designed to equip young people with an understanding of the playwriting process and across the term, increase their confidence, communication and creative expression.

Explore

This is a bespoke theatre workshop programme designed by experienced creative facilitators focussed on learning as well as being fun and allowing for play and creative discovery.

Previous Explore projects have included; watching The Lion King in the West End and using the music and story as a springboard to explore nature and themes of family; exploring a topic from the curriculum, for example citizenship, through use of puppets and movement;  devising a short play based around the school values of kindness and friendship and sharing this play in assembly.

Designed to increase their confidence, communication, creative expression and encourage teamwork and collaboration.
